Robert, Joanne, Neil, Troy and Curtis, I will always remember your Mom (Grandma) as someone who would support us in our teenage activities. She shared her house, always showed an interest in our crazy ideas, and offered support in countless ways. I can still hear her saying, "What are you girls up to now?". Her support continued past University, when she threw me a wedding shower and eleven years later, made a quilt and bibs for baby Eric. Anna Vermey never stopped being enthusiastic about life and caring about others. Even in palliative care, we had good laughs about the royal wedding, exchanged teacher stories and of course, as usual, she showed me photos of her grandsons with pride and asked me how Eric was doing. Anna was a model of active living... always learning, creating, caring and giving. We'll miss her. Heaven has another angel.

Joanne, Robert and family, We are blessed to have so many wonderful memories of your mother. Your mother and Winnie stayed with us a few years ago and we remember all their wonderful stories and all the smiles and laughter. We cherish the handmade note books and cards your mother gave us through the years. She was not only a kind and generous aunt but a true friend who will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Roger and Helen Jenkin

I remember Anna so fondly! I had the joy and privilege of teaching Anna piano about 10 years ago. I enjoyed teaching her very much. She was so cheery, and she was very dedicated to practicing piano as she enjoyed the piano with all of the traveling out to lessons, keeping dexterous, learning something new and just enjoying music. I remember how she took such good care of her husband and I enjoyed learning from her -- her patience and her stories -- of how she posted the date up on the fridge for him and took care to make sure he was able to think of things and was eating good food, getting exercise and that he was looked after as a whole in all of life's aspects. She sure loved him and she sure loved life. I was really glad to have met her and get to know her and it was only because she was so outgoing to pick-up some piano lessons just ten years ago. Many condolences to all of her family and friends. I think of her from time to time with a great big smile.

Both of our daughters were recipients of the much loved blankets that Mrs. Vermey made. These blankets have become a constant and much loved companion for the girls. Our oldest daughter Leah, called Mrs. Vermey "Mrs. Mermaid" as she was never able to say Vermey properly. To this day she still calls her Mrs. Mermaid. She holds a special place not only in the girls hearts but in all those that she touched. We will truly miss "Mrs. Mermaid". Jason, Lisa, Leah and Lauren Collard

Mrs. Vermey was my associate teacher at West Elgin Secondary School in November of 1976. I was a mature student and scared I couldn't do the job on my second practice teaching assignment. Mrs. Vermey was insightful, kind, considerate, and taught me so much in the few weeks I was with her. We kept in touch for many years. A wonderful teacher, a beautiful person--she will be missed by all. My sympathy to the family.Linda Zimmerman

Joanne and Robert We were sorry to hear your Mother has passed away. Jim and I have such good memories spending time with your family when we were growing up. I used to spend time with your parents in Simcoe before you and Robert were brought home. Anna was so interested in life and had so many interests. I know she and Mom had a close friendship, like sisters. I also know how proud she was of you, Robert, Neil and her grandchldren. I am sorry that we could not come today to honour her. She will always have a special place in our memories Doug, Shirley, Jim and Betty
