Hello Helen and Family: Jackie V. called to let me know your precious mom had passed away. I am very sorry for all of you, but I am so pleased she left peacefully. She was a wonderful person who gave so much of herself. She truly influenced me and the work that I do. My family and I will be leaving for vacation tomorrow morning so I won't be able to attend Monday's service, but I did want you to know that I am thinking of you. With sincere sympathy.... Kim Rowe

Dear Ian,Helen and Phil: Please accept my condolences on the passing of your mother. I have fond memories of the years that I worked with Jean at East Elgin. She was a very wise woman and not only a dedicated teacher but a very effective one as well. The teaching profession today would be held in greater esteem if all teachers loved their work and cared for their students as much as Jean did. Jean was a mentor to me in my first year in teaching in 1970 and therafter. Her sincere interest in others enabled her to know not only when to offer advice but how to offer it whether it was solicited or not. I always very seriously considered her advice to me and was grateful for her interst in me as a colleague and an individual. She was usually 'right on the mark'. No doubt you will miss your mother dearly. Your cherished memories of her will strengthen you at this time of grief and will always be with you and your children in your future lives. Having lost my mother recently, I know the pain of your loss of your mother, Jean. Perhaps a consolation for you is that you can celebrate the long life of a 'grand lady' Sincerely, Don O'Brien
