Obituary of Elizabeth"Liz" Martens

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we share that Elizabeth Martens (37) of Rutherglen (formerly of Aylmer) passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Beloved wife of Dave Martens, Liz passed away peacefully at home in the company of her closest family. “Auntie Liz” will be missed by her many nieces and nephews: Avery, Taylor, Everett, Katelyn and Bradley Parker, Josiah and Jelena Dyck, Alyssa, Trystan and Alex Giesbrecht, Kimberly and Nicole Fehr. Great-Aunt to Jaxon and Ashton Enns, and Maverick Mannell. Beloved daughter of William Watson and Mary Grissom. Beloved daughter-in-law of Margaret Martens. Beloved sister of Dawn (Frank) Giesbrecht and Bill Watson. Beloved sister-in-law of Ken and Sue Parker, Herman and Nancy Dyck, Margie Giesbrecht and Jake Martens.

Liz’s faith in God and passion for life were often displayed in her daily activities. Her commitment and dedication to both her marriage and her business were strongly evident to everyone who knew her. Never has there been a better example of a faithful and loving wife; always in friendly competition to sacrifice “the bigger cookie.” Liz enjoyed the outdoors by ATV’ing, hiking and swimming. She had a positive outlook on life which manifested itself into her relationships with friends and family. Her honest and direct approach to problem solving was greatly appreciated and her helpful assistance to those in need will always be remembered.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Sunday, August 7, 2022 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life event will be held at a later date to honour Liz’s memory.
