Although we only met Marie & John 14 years ago while playing shuttleboard the four of us became close friends. I will remember Marie for her kindness (she and John giving up their bedroom for us in Florida), her teaching skills (sewing tips and teaching me swedish weaving), her delicious cooking (sharing her recipes), her love of shopping (we shopped for clothes, shoes, yarn, fabric here and in Florida), her favourite restaurants (Sweet Tomatoes & IHOP), her skill at cards (how she loved winning at cards), her beautiful flower gardens and pots (sharing her perennials), and our great conversations (how we talked for hours on the phone). I will miss you Marie. Our condolences to her family. Judy & Jim Crane

When the Read family visited the farm they were always sure of three things; Marie would feed us well, let us have fun, and try to keep our behaviour within reason. Success in 2 out of 3 ain’t bad. Another thing we’ll never forget is the lime jello-pineapple-cottage cheese substance that we were instructed to eat! When we did as we were told, we discovered it tasted great. If Marie was pleased with us, marshmallows may be jiggling within. Rest In Peace Marie, you deserve it. And thanks for lime jello salad stuff, it was sure better than grandma’s head cheese.
