RIP Martin Fabi. To all family and friends of Martin I extend my condolences. I sure wish that I had connected with Martin ( ironically I live in Guelph, in retirement) . I never knew Martin, but I knew about his football accomplishments. I was playing high school football in Tillsonburg while Martin was establishing his punting excellence at East Elgin H. S. Later I taught and coached football at EESS, Aylmer, ON. Please know that all you Fabi family are in my thoughts, as you remember all those special occasions
Thanks Martin. Good man. RIP

Our condolances to Katherine and all of the Fabi clan. Martin was a very special friend. Theresa and I have spend many hours this week reminiscing about about some really neat times spent with the Fabi's on both sides of the pond. I think Martin trusted us to really let his hair down in our company. The big man we got to know well was far from "Mr Straight" around those he trusted. Funny, funny times with him and his bride. We feel sad.

Dear Katherine and Family,
My condolences to you and your family. I felt sad reading about Martin's passing. I did not know any of you personally but I always knew of Martin Fabi and Katie Mergler from a wonderful school photo that my sisters had. It was taken in the one room school at Luton where both of you attended elementary school, it was 1954, the year before I started school and your wonderful teacher was Mr. Ted White.
I always thought it was pretty amazing that someone from that tiny rural school became a football player and then had a very successful career with Livingston's. Like others have said, your devotion to the Aylmer Community is remarkable.
Cherish your many memories of Martin.
Sincerely,
Linda (Van Patter) Charlton

Martin's impact and his legacy continues beyond his lifetime. Martin was a 'first responder' for our family when we immigrated to Canada in 1978. He got my husband, Mike, his first job in Canada, helped us secure an apartment, and was always available as a mentor to us as we adjusted to life in Canada.
Since then, he and Katherine have been like family to us and we enjoyed decades of fun and friendship with this wonderful couple.
We will always remember Martin as a generous, helpful, and kind person who was always ready to laugh, and enjoy life.
We are grateful to have known him and he will be greatly missed.

Dearest Katherine, Randy, Greg, Ryan and families. Don and I wish to relay our deepest condolences to all of you. 45 years. That's how long I've known you. We've shared joys and sorrows, losses and, best of all, the arrival of grandchildren. I marveled at the dedication Martin and you have shown over the decades for your little community of Aylmer, your heritage and for the German Canadian Club. No matter how far your successes took you, we always knew the two of you would be home with all of us when it mattered. Martin was a presence! He will be sorely missed. Katherine, we hold you in our hearts.
Our love and condolences to all of you.

Martin's passing will be felt throughout our community. He was a source of great pride and an incredible example of resilience, strength, humility and kindness for everyone who had the pleasure to meet him. He and Katharine have touched the lives of many young people through the scholarship they began for East Elgin graduates starting in 2016. Our condolences to all his loved ones.

I first met Martin in the early eighties when he was CEO of Livingston Distribution Centers. The grocery products manufacturer I represented utilized their facilities across Canada. I especially remember the annual conferences he sponsored and the camaradarie they engendered. He was an excellent manager and grew Livingston to be one of the top companies in it's field.
I lost track of Martin until we moved to the Village by the Arboretum in 2014 and was delighted to renew our acquaintance. Our home was only a block or so from he and Katherines home.
RIP Martin! Ralph Billings and Evelyn Ender
