It's hard to pick one memory to capture how amazing Uncle George was. Whether it be the ever-playful game of "what's that on your shirt?" (...he got me every time!), or giving him "tester" bottles of my homebrew beer for feedback , he was always loving, playful and ready to help.
Over the last few years, Uncle George had helped me with many "first time homeowner projects" and one that sticks out, was when he made the trip out to my house to help me hookup our new dryer.
The project wasn't all that complicated, but it was the lessons I learned and the time with him I found so special. Doing that project with Uncle George gave me a feeling I had not had since my dad (his brother John) passed years ago. The way he taught and instructed me, the guidance and reassurance he gave, the wide range of topics he was knowledgeable on brought me right back to the workshop moments I had with my dad. Ever since that time, I felt a closeness to Uncle George like never before, and I feel so lucky to have had these special moments with him. These projects were some of the many ways that I looked up to and saw my Uncle George as a loving and supportive father figure to me, whether he knew it or not. I am deeply saddened by his passing, but I will carry forwards his teachings and playful sense of humor with my children....."hey what's that on your shirt?" Ti Amo Uncle George.

We have had the pleasure of being neighbors and friends with both Becky and George for many years. George was one of those very special people in life you rarely get to meet that create a hole in your heart when they are gone.
George was so full of life and truly enjoyed every moment. We will always remember his constant smile and pleasant conversations we had daily in the backyard. His generosity when it came to assisting with household projects, window boxes for our shed and countless others. His love for cooking and good food he shared so often. Our get togethers we had to relax and enjoy great conversations and stories. The practical jokes both Mark and George loved to play on each other were priceless. One of the most recent being when George was relentless trying to catch the rabbit that was eating up his freshly planted gardens. He placed a live trap by his garden in anticipation of catching it. Well George and Becky went out for the evening and Mark decided to put a purple stuffed rabbit at the back of the cage and close the trap door! When they arrived home all they could see was that the trap door was shut. With excitement they walked towards the trap and couldn’t figure out what was in it. George then realized it was a stuffed toy! The laughter afterwards will always be remembered. We will greatly miss George. Becky both Mark and I love you dearly and will be here for you always ❤️

Throughout the many long years of my incredible friendship with George I had a lot of very special memories which, at this time I have difficulty sharing. But here is an example of how giving and caring George was......
The girls (Becky, Nancy and my wife Ruth) had planned a day to see the Harry Potter stage production. Over dinner the night before he presented each of them with their own crafted wand that he made for them as a memento of their outing. It was nothing special, but just a thoughtful, fun thing to do. That was George. My grandson Miles is now the custodian of this special gift of the heart from George.
You'll always be with me buddy. Love Ian
In looking back over my many, many years of friendship with George (originally stemming from my husband Ian's college days with him, John and Carlo), it wasn't difficult to come up with a special memory to share.
It is a memory of my beach-walking, shell-collecting, fossil-finding beloved friend. George and I were one of a kind when it came to the way we liked to hike and walk be it on a beach, a path through the woods and fields, a clifftop. The others in our group would often gaze straight ahead at where they were going or skywards, to the left and to the right. Behind them more often than not would be the two of us with our eyes to the ground, sweeping in all directions for the treasures we would find and didn't want to miss. At times we would go our separate ways and then return to share and compare our collections at the end of a walk. And at other times, we would be on the hunt side by side searching for that one unusual find of the day. Upon our return to where we were staying, we would find a secluded place outside to lay out our special treasures and as the days would go by, our collections would grow. I can picture them now.....the shells lined up in their colours, the rocks and precious stones arranged in groups of size and type, the ancient fossils...... We would have to scale down our finds from our trips so we could bring home only those few special reminders of our forays. And in both of our homes they would find themselves in bookcases, on tables, in jars......memories.
And so, in honouring George and the memory of his oh-so-special friendship, I need only to go to my collections, pick up a treasure... and I will remember. Never forgotten.....Love Ruth

I knew that George could be incredibly focused but when I graduated high school I went with George, Beryl, Keith and Carmen to Bon Echo park for Canada Day week camping. George, Keith and I took their canoe to a lake in the park to do some fishing. On our way to our chosen lake we met up with four guys just getting back to the road from a different lake with BUCKETS of large mouth bass. We talked with them and for some reason we decided to push on to our chosen lake. As we portaged the canoe the 3 or so km to our lake we met two fellows portaging out. When we asked these gents how the fishing was, we were greeted with a cascade of profanity dealing with the lack of fish in our chosen lake. We again decided to forge on. I was in the bow, Keith amidships and George was Captain Crunch at the stern. After an hour or so, Keith quietly spooled up his gear and within 30 seconds was snoring. I stayed interested for probably another hour spooled up and slipped down for a nap as well. Every now and again I’d wake to see George tying on yet another lure until I heard his signature snort and “Yup, yup, yup”, signalling that all options had been explored and it was time go go back to the campground. Occasionally Keith and George and I would discuss that day and George would say “Whatca gonna do?”, snort, grin and adjust his pants. I’ll miss you forever and cherish every minute we spent together, brother. Love you ❤️

Tom and I have lost a very dear friend, steadfast through the years and even though we didn't see each other often.... it was always the same with George...funny, kind and a truly wonderful man. We have so many good memories of our times together; camping with the gang at Bon Echo, our epic trip to Florida in 1981, and our times visting Ontario and NB after welcoming our children. George's love for family and friends really shone on those visits.....and a favorite memory of mine was watching my girls' amazement when he pulled quarters from behind their ears. We had so looked forward to visiting you and Becky this fall....Gone way too soon, George....our world is less kind and loving without you. Much love, Dawn and Tom Sephton

One of my favourite memories of George was him coming to New Brunswick with Beryl, pre-Andrew and Carolyn, and fishing lobsters with us. At the time George sported an absolute engineering marvel between his top lip and his nose; his moustache. Like all things George it was always well organized, meticulously trimmed and carefully styled with a handlebar motif, the free-ends carefully twisted together and defying gravity with a supporting matrix of an appropriate amount of moustache wax/goo. At 5am, when the day started, it was a marvel. One of the Seven Wonders. Yet as the day wore on, with the heat of August, the sun, the wind, and the salt spray this engineering marvel that would have rivalled any Hollywood villans moustache, slowly transformed into something akin to what most walruses wear. The wax could not stop the assault of the elements and George's manicured and tamed moustache was released, freed to express itself in all its natural, wild beauty. George was one of the most kind, warm, funny, intelligent, quick witted people I have ever known and the best representation of a human being. Bern and I are heartbroken as are Hannah and Kellen. All of us have been cheated by cruel fate of more years of fart machine antics, home-made wine/sausages, and stories of the life experiences he and Becky shared with everyone. I have lost another brother. Sending our deepest and most heart felt condolences to Becky, Andrew and Shannon, Carolyn, Danny and Taran, the extended Piccinin and Hampton families, and his multitude of friends.

Uncle George embodied kindness. Always sporting a big moustachioed smile, and an earnest excitement to reconnect with his family, over good food and wine, and an abundance of stories and laughter. When I spoke with him, I never got the sense that he was rushed or distracted - no matter what was going on in the background, he always had the time to listen and ask meaningful questions. He truly cared.
One particular memory that speaks to his playful, mischievous side, was our family’s annual gift basket exchange at Christmas time. Carefully curated collections of obscure (and often bizarre) snacks filled the basket, and laughter filled the room as we went through them together.
I will miss my Uncle George deeply, he was a constant of goodness in all of our lives. Sending my deepest sympathies and love to Carolyn and Andrew, Becky, Danny and Shannon, and the entire Piccinin and Hampton families.
