It has been 10 years without you. A lot has changed. Most of it you would want to make it right. Your family has split up taking your siblings with it and you have a niece named Harper. The best thing is your dad has found happiness after 6 years of hurt and hate. We have lost Mocha, Molly and Smokey. It was very lonely without them. I have a new dog called Freddie. He is a Jack Russel and Chihuahua mix. He is my first rescue dog and is settling in well. Josh and two others have started their own millwright business and doing well at it. It is all weekend work and they all have full time employment during the week. Cudos to them. Dan is working on getting his millwright papers.
There isn't a day that something doesn't pop up that reminds me of you.
Love
Grandma P

It has been 8 years Matt. Hard to believe. Seems like yesterday that you were here with us. The TV channel still gets changed when I have been asleep and I know it isn't you. Every year I find out more of what you went through. Some of it is good and some a horror story. I know you would have fought harder if you had thought you would have a life at the end of your recovery. Realistically you knew what life would be like. The anniversary of your accident and death has been really hard on Dad this year. Maybe because shortly Joey won't be living with him, Nicole graduates as a Registered Nurse this May. I know, you would already have left to work at your chosen field. These two are the last of his family to leave home. It is hard. He misses you and your quirky attitude. The tears are still there when we talk to or about you. I will always love you Matt and we will meet again. Grandma P

It has been seven years since you left us. You would be twenty-five this May. Probably would be working at your chosen profession or gone further in your education. Kevin & Holly had a little boy this summer and he is named after you and his grandfather. He is a beautiful baby and I hope he will have your attitude towards life. It was hard to meet him, hold him and reminisce with Kevin & Holly. As the years pass it does not get easier to accept that you are gone. I could always count on you and you could count on me. We had a unique bond. Love you Matt, miss you and we will meet again someday.

Three long years knowing you won't be coming home has and still is very hard. Watching your father struggle; telling Joey about you on the farm so he will remember you through us is therapeutic. We will go on..we must. Until we meet again Matt..

It is with great sadness to hear of your son's passing through a family cousin. I was shocked today to hear of Matthew's passing last week. I had the pleasure of teaching Matthew for an entire year in Grade 5 at New Sarum Public School. He was a wonderful child at that time and was always very respectful and a pleasure to be around. I would take a classroom full of Matthews any day; he was that great of a kid. My heart and prayers go our to your family and friends Matthew. I cannot imagine how difficult the past month has been for all of them. You were taken from us too soon, but you will not be forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.

Dear Matthew: God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Although I did not know you personally Matthew, I had the pleasure of caring for you while you were at Sunnybrook, as your nurse. You touched my heart and all of us around you. You are God's angel and you will be missed. Dear Family: My heart bleeds for your loss and we tried everything possible to save him. But God and Matthew had other plans. Just know he is in a better place and is looking down on all of you. He will be your guardian angel, your protector...he is always close by. Just look up into the sky! I was away at the time of his passing and missed the funeral to which I wanted to attend. He will always be in my heart. Seeing his photo on this website allows me to remember who he really was and he is a beautiful young man. Mommy and daddy and siblings...he was lucky to be apart of such a wonderful family. I will never forget you all...you also touched my heart. Sincerely, Maxine RN (aka: "trouble") at the Ross Tilley Burn Unit Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

Our thoughts and Prayers are with you, as we mourn your loss with you. Though nothing can possibly compare to the loss you must feel. I know you must have heard it all by now and words seem to never suffice. But know that you are all loved and well thought of now and always. Even when it seems we have all forgotten. We have not. May the Love you have in your heart live forever and may it comfort you, knowing you were able to share such a wonderful gift.
