Obituary of Florence McCallum
McCallum - Peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, Florence Irene (Martyn), of R.R. 2 Springfield, in her 89th year. Born on October 28, 1919 in South Dorchester Township, Florence was the daughter of the late Harry and Myrtle (White) Martyn. Beloved wife of the late Clarence (Pete) McCallum (1988), Florence was the dear mother of Marilyn (Russell) Sanders of St. Thomas, Mary (Jeff) Neal of Ottawa, Doug (Janice) McCallum of Lyons and Nancy Imrie (friend Len) of St. Thomas. She will live on through her 9 grandchildren (John, Heather, Kim, Martyn, Scott, Marcie, Erin, Chris and Melanie) and 11 great grandchildren (Breanne, Rebecca, Alex, Duncan, Pyper, Cameryn, Rayne, Jordan, Ian, Madison and Colleen). A lifelong resident of the Lyons area, Florence was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church, active in the Lyons Women's Institute and 4-H activities. She was predeceased by sisters Marion and Marjorie, brothers Art and Bill. The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital who provided such compassionate care over the past two weeks. Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Monday, July 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, July 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Twinem, officiating. Interment, Aylmer Cemetery. Donations to the Springfield Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
