It was with great sadness that I read of Robert's passing..Robert lived across the street from my parents on Fourth Avenue..I always looked forward to talking with him when I was home for a visit...He and Annie always looked out for my parents and I really do appreciate that...He was a good kind hearted man.. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family and friends.

Dear Deb and Family, On behalf of The Bradford Group, we extend our deepest condolences. You are in our thoughts and hope that you find comfort and peace in all the wonderful memories you shared with your Dad. Reading the other obituaries, it is evident that he was a fine man who really made a difference. That is something to be very proud of. Yours sincerely, Shauna

My grand father was an amazing man. He married my grandmother and then left for the war the same weekend for 6 years. He was a medic in the war and when I was a kid he an I would sit on my grand parents front lawn under the maple tree with him and he would tell me stories about his time over there. More often concentrating on the funny stories of his leave days in Europe. He started taking me strawberry picking when I was very young and encouraged me to eat the big fat jam berries before they went into the basket. He also used this method for taste testing grapes in the super market, back in the days it was ok to do so. He introduced me to eating raw hamburg with LOTS of salt on it, which made my grandmother shake her head at the two of us. He also taught me that peanut butter fold over sanwhiches on white bread were the only way to eat them. He taught me how to fish, camp without running water or hydro. How to cool carrots, onions, chicken with lots of butter and LOTS of salt in a foil pack over the fire. I make it for my kids over the fire now and teach them the same things he taught me all those summers of camping in craigleith provincial park. He picked us up from school on the past day of the school year and brought us home the day before we went back. He heard me say the word "hate" when I was 10. He corrected me. He said "hate is such a terrible word. You should never say it. Say dislike, distaste or don't care for. Never hate". When I gave birth to his first great grand child, he told me he was so proud of me. He was so smitten, holding him. Smiling from ear to ear. He laid his hand on the top of my sons head, his giant hands swallowing his little head. When I gave birth to his first great grand daughter, he held her. She had him wrapped around her little pink finger. When he said goodbye to them he always held out his hand and said "shake a paw". My kids refer to him as 'great grandpa shake a paw'. He always called me "squirt", it didn't matter that I'm 35 years old. You will never find anyone to say a bad word about him. He was a hard working, honest man who would take his shirt off his back for anyone in need. Although he had a very long life, I will miss him every day and think about him often. I will never stop telling my kids, family and friends stories about him. Love you lots grandpa.
