Obituary of Jean Phoenix
Phoenix, Jean of St. Thomas and formerly Aylmer, at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, June 30, 2012, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Stuart Phoenix (2002). Dear mother of Leigh Phoenix (Marie), Skip Phoenix (Beth) and Faye Murray (Neil). Loved by her grandchildren Nadie-Leigh, Ryley-Rae, Kim (Nick), Drue, Kyle (Rachel), and Dana (Al). Great grandmother of Gabriella and Lukas. Sister of Robert Guest (Audrey), Marguerite Somerville, Mildred Vaughan and Allan Guest (Dot). Special aunt of Mary Lou Phoenix Sheeler. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in Mt. Pleasant, Ontario on July 3, 1920, daughter of the late William Robert and Florence (Flanders) Guest. Jean spent her early childhood at Mt.Pleasant, Brant County. She was a graduate of the MacDonald Institute, Guelph and in 1942 married Flight Lieut. Stuart Phoenix at Dauphin, Manitoba. In 1946 she graduated from the Toronto Baptist Seminary and taught in Africa until 1953. Stuart and Jean settled in Aylmer in 1957 and moved to St.Thomas in 2001. Jean sang in the Aylmer Concert Singers and several church choirs. Some of her other interests included the Women's Institute, curling, knitting, quilting and she wrote many personal memoirs about her life experiences. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Tuesday 6-9pm where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Interment, All Saints Anglican Church Cemetery, Mt.
