Obituary of Eddy Rempel

We regretfully announce the passing of Eddy Rempel, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and community leader. Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, on March 5, 1968, Eddy passed away on the morning of January 10, 2024, at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.

Eddy is survived by his devoted wife, Pauline Sarah (Wiebe) Rempel, whom he married on July 29, 2006, and their three cherished daughters, Nadia (15), Mikayla (13), and Elianna (11). He was a loving son to Cornelius P. Rempel and Helena (Letkeman) Rempel and a guiding light to his siblings, John (Krista), David (Liz), Danny (Maria), Caroline (Kevin), James (Elfrieda), Yolanda (Henry), and Ronald, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. A cherished son-in-law of William and MaryAnne (Peters) Wiebe of La Crete, Alberta and brother-in-law to Marie (Dave), Sandra (Larry), Martha (Peter) and Kathryn (Dale).

Eddy's life was marked by a profound commitment to Mennonite heritage education and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Alongside his parents, he co-founded and led Rempel Properties Inc., showcasing his resilience and leadership. His steadfast faith in Jesus, generosity, and compassion were an inspiration to his siblings and children. Known for his competitive spirit, Eddy was affectionately nicknamed "Rambo".

Eddy's favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:1-6, was a reflection of his own life - a journey marked by humility, patience, and a commitment to unity and peace.

We extend special thanks to friends and family who supported Eddy with wheelchair ramps, beds, meals, and prayerful visits during his time of need.

In honor of Eddy's life and legacy, instead of flowers, donations can be made to Mennonite Community Services, an organization close to his heart, where he served as Executive Director.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer. The funeral service will take place at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 17, at Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, 6700 Springfield Rd Aylmer (Mount Salem), followed by interment at the Aylmer Cemetery.
